SIGN-UPS FOR THE 2022 SYLLABUS TEACHER TRAINING ARE NOW OPEN!

Dates: Saturday 3rd December- Sunday 4th December

Times: 9am-3pm (Saturday); 9am-1pm (Sunday)

Venue: Both Virtual attendance and Physical attendance will be accommodated. Physical attendance in Cape Town.

*For those attending Virtually- access to a set of marimbas will be helpful for practical sessions

Cost: R1800 per teacher (excl. VAT)

  • This includes the training, access to the Level 1-3 e-books, as well as teacher membership for 1 year.

ABOUT THE SYLLABUS TEACHER TRAINING COURSE

This course is mandatory for any teacher who would like to teach this syllabus.

The first training session will cover the needed skills and understanding of Levels 1, 2 and 3

CONTENT:

  • Understanding the requirements of each level 1,2 and 3
  • Practicalities of how to approach teaching the content as intended
  • Understanding how to use the online resources
  • Basic marimba skills (i.e. you do not need to be a marimba player already)

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

All first-time teachers of this syllabus should already have an understanding (and preferably experience) teaching the CAPS/ Trinity/ ABRSM or similar Music Curriculum.

i.e. Music Teachers already registered with SACE, or who have an undergraduate degree in Music, or who have experience teaching practical music and theory.

The ability to read music and an extensive understanding of music theory and practical teaching principles is expected of all incoming music teachers of this syllabus.
